Country Bank Donates Five Thousand Dollars to JDRF
Country Bank and Iona College are taking strides to reduce – and hopefully one day eliminate – the footprint of Type 1 Diabetes in the lives of the many thousands affected by the disease. Partnering together with Laura Saggese, co-founder of Wrap for A Cause charity program, they have sponsored a vibrant vehicle raising awareness and funds one mile at a time for juvenile diabetes research. The colorfully wrapped van proudly sat center stage at the Westchester One Walk on Sunday, October 22 at the Empire City Casino Yonkers’ Raceway. Country Bank generously donated five-thousand dollars to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
“Everybody is a winner today,” said Wrap for A Cause Founder Laura Saggese. “It’s heartwarming to see so many people from the community come and support their neighbors and friends. This is why I love nonprofit work: it’s about raising awareness and resources for causes and programs that have immediate impact on individual lives and families.”
The Iona College athletic van is wrapped with colorful decals, including its school and JDRF logos, thus creating a mobile billboard that spreads awareness of the promoted charity to any campus, community or road travels. Country Bank with its main office in New York also boasts a logo on the van as the corporate sponsor of the program. The Murphy family – who control Country Bank - is committed to juvenile diabetes research, as two children were impacted by the disease and one who passed away from the life-altering condition.
“Not only has Juvenile Diabetes impacted my own family, but many members of our Country Bank family, as well. Raising awareness by organizing fundraisers and offering support to other families is what prompted me to become a founding member of the Westchester Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in 1972,” states JoAnn Murphy, Vice Chair of Country Bank. “It’s heartening to see the strides made over the years, and to have other community partners like Wrap for a Cause and Iona College join us on our mission.” Country Bank Donates Five Thousand Dollars to JDRF
